Census: Diversity Increases Across the Bellmores
2010 numbers show decrease in total populations, but increase in diversity.

Bellmore has seen a 0.98 percent decrease in population during the last decade, while North Bellmore has seen a nearly identical 0.99 percent decrease, according to a recent report by the United States Census Bureau.
Bellmore's population now stands at 16,218, compared to 16,441 in 2000. North Bellmore's population has dipped to 19,941 after reaching 20,079 in 2000.
The population of the United States grew from 281.4 million in 2000 to 308.7 million in 2010, an increase of 9.7 percent. New York State's population rose just 2 percent to 19.3 million.

Diversity has increased across the Bellmores. The Asian and African American populations increased somewhat significantly in both Bellmore and North Bellmore, while the Hispanic/Latino population increased by 44 percent in Bellmore and 41 percent in North Bellmore.
