This event is in honor of James McNaughton, a NYPD Officer who was killed in Iraq. Jimmy was a SSG with the Army Reserve's 306th MP Battalion, based out of Uniondale, Long Island. Coming from a family of police officers, he joined the NYPD a little over 8 years ago as a member of the first Police Academy class to graduate after 9/11. James McNaughton, 27, was the first New York City Cop to give his life for his country as a soldier in the line of duty while serving in Iraq.
James will be honored with a day of fun, free food, & entertainment. Entertainment includes performances from the Ultimate Billy Joel Cover Band, Big Shot, the NY Shields Pipes & Drums Band, the U.S.O., and there will be loads of other entertainment announced within the next few weeks, including a special guest comedian and other big surprises that will be revealed the day of the event.
The proceeds from the event will be donated to multiple great charities: The Wounded Warrior Project, The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, 911 Vets and The James McNaughton Foundation. The Wounded Warriors Project seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund has provided more than $65 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. The 911 Vets Organization assists those returning from the Global War on Terrorism as well as those who served in other eras. The James McNaughton Foundation helps to provide scholarships to men and women who serve in the NYPD.
