Annual Fair for Transitioning Students with Disabilities is sponsored by the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District's Special Education PTA (SEPTA ) and the Community Parent Center. This third annual event will feature a panel presentation for parents and students about life after high school for students with disabilities. Among the topics will be: "Types of services provided by the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD)"; "What happens after my child’s school years are completed?"; "Vocational and employment opportunities post-high school" ; "The role of Medicaid and Non-Medicaid service coordinator"; "Applying for SSI & Medicaid," among others. Opportunity to meet with representatives from OMRDD, Head Injury Association, YAI, Life House, FEGS, Life’s WORC, Free, L.I. Center for Independent Living, AHRC, Abilities, ACDS, QUSAK, Parent to Parent, CAP, Independent Residences, Nassau BOCES Supported Employment, ACLD, and Center for Rapid Recovery.
