Horse Owned by Bellmore Man Wins Award

Wild Request is a small horse, but he has a big spirit. The 3-year-old pacer, once owned by a Bellmore man, won the November Horse And Groom Of The Month Award on Dec. 20 during a program at Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park in Florida.

According to an article in HarnessLink, Wild Request won three times in November in restricted claiming company for owner Robert Weinstein of Bellmore before being claimed away for $11,250 on Dec. 7.

Wild Request's caretaker, Melanie Ricco, said he deserved the award.

"He's probably the smallest horse and gelding pacer I'll ever care for in my career, but what he lacked in size he sure made up for with heart and determination" Ricco said.
