Mepham Artists Inducted to Honor Society
Bellmore-Merrick students inducted into Art Honor Society.

Using the theme “Transcend,” the Mepham High School Art Honor Society inducted its 2015 class in a ceremony held in the school’s auditorium on Feb. 5.
Forty-seven Mepham students were inducted by current members of the Honor Society after hearing opening remarks from Mepham alum and graphic artist at Harper Collins, Aurora Parlagreco. Parlagreco relayed her college and professional experiences and credited the staff and coursework she received while a student at Mepham.
The inductees also heard from current students Emily Braverman, Dennis Williams, Jacqueline Rofe, Steph Meisser, Danielle Valentino, Alexa Tyner and Samantha Zirin, who introduced the elements of art. Student Kayla Ruziak led the inductees with the candle lighting ceremony and the inductees exchanged gifts of their own work with one another. In closing, teacher Christine Stevens relayed a famous story attributed to Pablo Picasso to underscore the lifelong effort of student artists.
