North Bellmore Students And Staff Energized For New Year
Students returned to school on Tuesday, and were welcomed warmly by their teachers.
The front doors opened to the five elementary schools in the North Bellmore School District on Sept. 3 and more than 2,000 smiling children walked through, eager for the learning adventures a new year promises. With shiny floors and newly decorated bulletin boards, there was a warm and inviting feeling in each building.
“The first day of school is pure magic,” Superintendent Marie Testa said. “It was a smooth start and lots of happy children, who were welcomed with love by the faculty and staff. I wish everyone a great year filled with many miracle moments.”
Kindergarten teachers greeted the district’s newest students and planned some activities that allowed the youngsters to socialize and get to know each other. Sixth graders, in their final year of elementary school, spoke of the responsibility they have in serving as role models for the rest of the school. Students in Nicholas Assande’s class at John G. Dinkelmeyer Elementary School noted the importance of making good choices because their actions are noticed by their younger peers.
