TOH Announces Bike Locker Lottery for Bellmore Train Station Commuters

Residents have a chance to win free a bike locker for one year.

The Town of Hempstead announced Tuesday that eight bicyclists who commute from the will have a chance to win a free bike locker for one year. 

Winners will be randomly selected at the Town Clerk's Office in Hempstead on April 2. The  lockers will be available the same day.

“These eight bike lockers will give our residents added incentive to use two wheels instead of four, providing a pollution-free method of getting to work and a great way to get your heart pumping,” Supervisor Kate Murray said in a statement. “Whether you work nearby or take the train to Manhattan, you can rest assured that your bicycle will be safe and sound in one of these new bike lockers.”

The lockers, provided by the New York State Department of Transportation, will be located on the north side of the tracks at the Bellmore Train Station. They will fit a standard bicycle and protect it from damage, theft and bad weather.

Residents can obtain lottery applications by contacting the Town Clerk's Office at (516) 812-3026. Entry forms must be submitted to the Town Clerk's Office by March 19 at 4 p.m.
