A Holocaust Story: Remembrance Day With Marion Blumenthal Lazan

The Town of Hempstead is holding a free event today at 7 p.m. at the Merrick Golf Course Clubhouse.

In 1938 the Blumenthal family was captured by the Nazis before they could escape to America from their home in Rotterdam. The family spent more than six years in Hitler's horrific camps fraught with near escapes, dashed hopes and tragedy. At liberation, Marion Blumenthal was 10  years old and weighed 35 pounds. Today she bears witness as the last generation of living Holocaust survivors. Her memoir, Four Perfect Pebbles, is in its 21st printing.
