VIDEO: Fans, Workers Rally for New Arena
Fans and workers gathered outside of the Nassau Coliseum Wednesday to voice their support for a new arena.
New York Islanders fans and union workers joined with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Islanders owners Charles Wang and several players Wednesday afternoon to voice their support for a new arena for the team.
Those in attendance were treated to a free concert from the legendary Long Island band Blue Oyster Cult.
Among those supporting the new arena was Islanders forward Matt Moulson.

"I think Charles [Wang] made it pretty clear, he's passionate about staying on Long Island," Moulson said. "... I love it on Long Island and I love the fans here. They're arguably the most loyal fans I've ever seen. They've gone through a lot and I think this is a little bit of a reward for them too."
Residents will have the opportunity to decide the fate of the new arena, along with a minor league ballpark, at the Aug. 1 referendum vote.
