District leaders highlighted the community’s collaborative culture, professional growth opportunities, and strong staff relationships as the educators then spent a full orientation day preparing to work with local students.

• 9/11 memorial van honors 2 LI natives and NYPD detectives who died in Twin Towers after terrorist attack (newsday.com) — A 1963 Chevrolet Corvair has been transformed into a rolling memorial to two NYPD detectives, including Claude Daniel Richards, who grew up in Bethpage, and others lost to 9/11 and related illnesses. The van will appear at the Hauppauge Fire Department’s Sept. 11 memorial ceremony and at the 9/11 Memorial in Manhattan, keeping their stories visible for Long Island families.
