A petition has already drawn over 400 signatures, and town officials say they’re negotiating for Grumman to fund a brand-new park, while engineers review information from local advocates.

• The Stanley Cup returns to Long Island without the NY Islanders (eyesonisles.com) — Long Island hockey fans will soon see the Stanley Cup up close as Carolina Hurricanes goalie and Sound Beach native Brandon Bussi brings it to Hauppauge and Freeport. The visit highlights how far the Island’s hockey scene has come, recalling Bethpage native Rob Scuderi, the only other Long Island–born player to win the Cup.
