6-Year-Old Recovering From Serious Injuries After Crash
An online fundraiser was started by the boy's aunt to help raise money on his behalf after he suffered from a brain injury last week.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A fundraising campaign was recently started on behalf of a 6-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a Brentwood crash last week.
Last Thursday, 35-year-old Melanie Beemer, of Coram was driving a 2011 Jeep Patriot east on Express Drive South when she was struck by a 1999 Honda Odyssey traveling south on Washington Avenue.
Beemer's 6-year-old son Matteo, who was in the Jeep, was transported to Cohen's Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park in serious condition.

"MRI results indicate he will eventually heal, however it can be months to years of healing," she wrote on the page created on Saturday. "He is currently still in ICU where he will be for at least the near future. After that he will go to different step down units in the hospital before sending him to a rehabilitation center which could mean months and months of time in a facility that may or may not be close to home, depending on who the best choice for his needs will be."
The goal of the page is to raise a total of $25,000 to help out Beemer and her son. As of Tuesday, $4,729 has been raised.
"I am asking everyone to help my sister stay with her son during this time, which means she won’t be able to work in order to be with her son," she wrote.
