• Major Long Island Greenway Project Moves Forward in Suffolk County (town.news) — A major new stretch of the Long Island Greenway is planned to run from the Nassau-Suffolk border to Brentwood State Park, giving Brentwood residents safer options for walking, biking, and commuting. Backed by $16.4 million in federal funding, the 12.3‑mile route would link neighborhoods to parks, jobs, schools, bus lines, and the Deer Park LIRR station while keeping most users separated from car traffic.
   

• MS-13 member gets 25 years to life for sexually assaulting woman at gunpoint (news12.com) — A convicted MS-13 affiliate told a woman he had buried a former girlfriend near the psychiatric center in Brentwood and threatened similar harm before later sexually assaulting her at gunpoint in Hicksville. Prosecutors say his months-long harassment and violence ended with a Nassau County jury conviction and a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
