MS-13 Leader Gets 60 Years For 7 LI Murders, Including Brentwood Teens (patch.com) — Brentwood residents are learning that MS-13 leader Jairo Saenz has been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for a series of brutal crimes that heavily targeted their community. Prosecutors detailed multiple murders, attempted murders, arson, and drug trafficking centered in Brentwood and nearby areas, including the 2016 killings of Brentwood High School students Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens. Officials say the lengthy sentence aims to bring some measure of justice and closure to grieving families.
   

2. He credits his own struggles learning English in Brentwood with inspiring his focus on giving multilingual and Hispanic students a strong voice and sense of belonging in school.
   

4. Police: One Dead After Car Crashes into Sunken Meadow State Park Toll Booth, Bursts into Flames (longisland.com subscription) — State Police based in Brentwood responded Monday to a deadly one-car crash at the Sunken Meadow State Parkway toll booths in Smithtown, where a vehicle hit the structure and burst into flames. Investigators are still working to identify the victim and even the vehicle, and multiple agencies assisted as the probe into what happened continues.
