Brentwood-Central Islip Residents Approve School Budget

Brentwood-Central Islip residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

BRENTWOOD-CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - Brentwood and Central Islip residents hit the polls on Tuesday to vote on school budgets and school board members.

Brentwood approved the district's $418,915,646 proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 839 to 568 .

The budget represents a 2.44 percent spending increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of 4.03 percent.

In the vote for Brentwood Board of Education members, Robert Feliciano beat out William Moss and Walter Bonilla for the first open seat while G. Paula Moor beat out Kimberly Johnson and Andrew Como for the second open seat.

Feliciano received 658 votes, Moss received 425 votes and Bonilla received 308 votes. Moore received 718 votes over Johnson's 340 votes and Como's 247 votes.

Mudnia Sheikh announced she had withdraw her candidacy on Monday.

In Central Islip, residents approved the districts proposed budget of $216,560,271 by a 605 to 177 vote.

The budget represents a 2.72 percent increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of 1.63 percent.

All running unopposed, Glenn C. Mitchell received 629 votes and Daniel M. Devine received 549 votes for the open three-year terms while Jim Musumeci received 490 votes for a two-year term.
