Brentwood East Middle School Students Awarded $10K Grant

The grant was awarded by the New York Jets and The American Dairy Association Northeast.

BRENTWOOD, NY - Brentwood East Middle School students were recently awarded a $10,000 Hometown Grant from the New York Jets and The American Dairy Association Northeast.

Fuel up to Play 60, a program found by the National Dairy Council and the NFL in collaboration with the USDA empowers students to make healthy eating habits, increase physical activities and encourages students to lead healthier lives to nutritious foods.

Middle School students and New York State Fuel Up Student Ambassadors Jacqueline Ayala, Karla Cando along Leslie Rodriguez, Program Advisors, and Food Services Department employees were invited to MetLife Stadium to receive a $10,000 grant on the field and watch the Jets pregame warm-ups.

Throughout East Middle School’s seven years within the program, they have been a "Touch Down School" every year.

A school is awarded "Touch Down" status when they are in full compliance with the six steps requirements to establish a successful program each year.

Over the lifetime of the program in Brentwood, East Middle School has ten students selected as New York State Ambassadors of the Year and six students chosen to attend numerous Student Ambassador Summits held at several universities and NFL stadiums across the country.
