Brentwood UFSD Participates in the Summer Food Service Program
Meals to be provided without charge to children 18 and under over summer months
Brentwood, N.Y. (July 2019)—Brentwood Union Free School District announced today it will participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) beginning July 1 through August 16. The SFSP program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, aims to feed breakfast and lunch to all children 18 years and younger throughout summer while school is no longer in session.
“Nutrition plays a key role in the healthy development of our children. In Brentwood, it’s important to ensure our students have the nutritional support they need during the school year as well as throughout the summer months,” said Mr. Richard Loeschner, Superintendent of Brentwood Union Free School District. “The district’s participation in the SFSP program, which provides meals at no cost, allows our students the opportunity to enjoy summer vacation without having to worry about food insecurity.”
Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following locations: North Middle School, West Middle School, Oak Park Elementary, East Kindergarten and Laurel Park. Children will have access to nutritious food at no charge, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability. Meals must be consumed on premises.
