Wall was driving a black 2007 Infiniti and Plummer was driving a silver 2008 BMW, according to the DA.

The crash caused Plummer’s car to veer off the roadway and strike a fence while Wall’s car hit the back of a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer that was also traveling southbound on New Highway, causing the Chevrolet to overturn, Sini said.

His car then struck two parked vehicles in front of 475 New Highway, according to Sini.

Wall allegedly exited his car and was apprehended by police a quarter mile from the scene of the crash, the DA said.

He then allegedly told police that he was not the driver of the Infiniti, according to the DA.

Pierre Prophete, 23, of Copiague, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in critical condition immediately following the crash, the DA

He succumbed to his injuries on April 3, 2017.

An investigation revealed evidence that Wall was driving the Infiniti at the time of the crash and that he and Plummer had been racing, the DA said.

If convicted of the top count, Wall and Plummer each face a maximum sentence of five to 15 years in prison.

Wall is due back in court on September 17.

"These two individuals allegedly tried to avoid taking responsibility for causing the death of a young man due to their reckless behavior at the time of this crash," Sini said.
