The 'CI Loves St. Jude's' fundraiser was organized by Central Islip High School Action Committee member Mekayla Manwaring. Red hearts were sold to staff and students who could dedicate them to someone special. The three-day effort culminated with a raffle ticket drawing to win a basket of love. Giving to this organization was very important to Mekayla. All proceeds were given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of staff and students and a generous donation from Mrs. Paul, the Action Committee was able to donate $792.00. Interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Ms. Leila Holmes, visited the students to congratulate them on their successful effort, and joined those students who were involved in the project for a group photo. Pictured from left, standing: Ms. Holmes. Edelmira Avila, Alisan Cabezas, Mekayla Manwaring, Catherine Bell, Jenny Castillo and Tianna Alvarado. Kneeling from left: JadaRose Simmons, Daniela Gomez, Katie Ly, Osasi Amene and Sabrina Frade. Students who were involved in the project but not available for the photo were Ryan Antwi, Monica Mauvais and Ashley Argote.
