Ms. Trish Lectora was appointed Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Health Services of the Central Islip School District effective February 14th, 2022. She succeeds the retiring Mr. Lawrence S. Philips.
Ms. Lectora brings 18 years of experience as a physical education teacher and athletic director while employed with the New York City Schools Department of Education, to the Central Islip School District. She is also a Special Olympics Unified Coach.

As she assumes her duties as Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Health Services in Central Islip Schools, Ms. Lectora shares her agenda of priorities and goals: "I would like to ensure that the physical education program offers students numerous opportunities to enhance their high school experience. I would also like to work on encouraging more of our scholar athletes to enter the highly competitive Division 1 and Division 2 colleges and universities, in addition to Division 3 schools."
Ms. Lectora said she is looking forward to working collaboratively with teachers and staff to make the Department of Physical Education thrive. "Teamwork is essential to creating a great physical education experience for our students," Ms. Lectora explains. "I will support our teachers so they will be the best that they can be," she said, adding, "I am thrilled to be a part of the Central Islip Community, and excited to be a member of the CI Team."
Ms. Lectora received the prestigious 'Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award' in Richmond Hill in 2004. She also has the distinct honor of receiving the 'Athletic Director of the Year Award' through the Public School Athletic League, (PSAL), in 2018.
Ms. Lectora earned both her Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, and her Masters Degree in Education from Queens College.
