BUFSD Hosts Professionals to Give Students a Glimpse of Future Career Paths

Brentwood, N.Y. (November 2019)—Brentwood Union Free School District (BUFSD) recently welcomed several representatives from local businesses, the Suffolk County Police Department and the U.S. Army to meet with students at Brentwood High School. These individuals were able to speak directly with Brentwood’s youth and give them valuable insights into their respective organizations, as well as answer questions from the students interested in entering their fields.

“The district strives to provide our students with ample opportunities to interact with those in today’s workforce to give them a level of direction and provide insights to different career paths they can potentially pursue,” said Mr. Richard Loeschner, Superintendent of Brentwood Union Free School District. “Our goal is to prepare students for life beyond high school education. That is, after all, what schooling is supposed to do; help students to become confident, motivated and self-sufficient to ensure the brightest possible future for each and every one of them.”
Students were able to meet one-on-one with various officials to gain an understanding as to what they do, how they ended up in their field, and the necessary steps for students to take if they are interested in pursuing a similar career. The students were also able to become acquainted with the visiting representatives on a personal level, forming connections that might prove helpful in the future.
