Man Charged With Robbing Central Islip 7-Eleven: SCPD

The 25-year-old told the clerk he had a gun, then reached over the counter and stole money from the cashier early Wednesday, police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - An Islandia man was arrested for robbing a 7-Eleven in Central Islip early Wednesday, according to Suffolk Police.

Malcolm Crews, 25, entered the convenience store on 166 East Suffolk Avenue, told the clerk he had a gun and demanded cash at 12:27 a.m., police said.

When the clerk did not comply, Crews reached over the counter, stole cash from the drawer, and then fled on foot, police said.

Following an investigation, detectives found Crews on East Cherry Street in Central Islip, where he was arrested at 12:57 a.m

He was charged with first degree robbery.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
