Man Sentenced To Prison For Machete Murder Of Ex's Boyfriend: DA
The 44-year-old was arrested for stabbing the man during an argument last year.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - On his 44th birthday, a Central Islip man was sentenced to prison for killing his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend with a machete last year, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.
On Monday, Santos Torres was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of Jose Hernandez, the DA said.
On Sept. 9, officers received a 911 call for a fight in front of a Bradley Street home in Brentwood and found that 39-year-old Hernandez had been stabbed with a machete by Torres, according to Suffolk Police.

Hernandez was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. He later died.
Torres was convicted of second degree murder in August, the DA said.
