Man Stabbed With Machete Outside Suffolk County Home: Police

BREAKING: A 42-year-old man faces an assault charge after stabbing Thursday night, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A Central Islip man was arrested after stabbing a man with a machete outside a Brentwood home on Thursday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Officers received a 911 call for a fight in front of a Bradley Street home at about 11:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found that 39-year-old Jose Hernandez had been stabbed with a machete by 42-year-old Santos Torres, police said. He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.

Torres was arrested and charged him with first degree assault, police said. He was held overnight and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
