Working nearly year-round in the fields, he handles everything from irrigation to mowing, showing how one retiree's energy and commitment help keep a vital Brentwood food resource thriving.
   

• Mineola Mustangs prepare for 2026 competitive season (longislandpress.com) — Mineola High School's champion marching band will kick off its 2026 competitive season with a show at Brentwood High School on Sept. 20, giving local families a chance to see their new production, "Grim." The performance previews a creative, award-winning program built around the classic song "Smile" as the band begins another run toward a state title.
   

• From Manhattan to Montauk, a new trail is taking shape (southforker.com) — Plans for the Long Island Greenway include a major section from Eisenhower Park to Brentwood State Park and another from Brentwood to Riverhead, putting Brentwood residents near the heart of a new 200-mile walking and biking route. Design work is underway, with construction on the first 25 miles expected to start in late 2026, promising safer, off-road connections across Long Island.
