• New president named for SUNY Brockport (13wham.com) — SUNY Brockport will welcome Dawn Meza Soufleris as its new president, succeeding longtime leader Heidi Macpherson when she retires July 20. Soufleris, a SUNY alum currently at Montclair State, calls Brockport a “gem of Western New York” and highlights the university’s recent enrollment growth and strong reputation. 
• ‘We talk the same language': Navy vets find lasting friendship at local senior living community (rochesterfirst.com) — Two Navy veterans living at Evergreen Place in Brockport have formed a close friendship that’s helped them settle into senior living. George Mann, a World War II veteran, and fellow vet Patrick Condo bond over shared service stories while staff intentionally foster connections among residents. Their experience highlights the community feel available to older adults right in Brockport.
