SOMOS Social Care Network Launches Summer Mercado, a Free Community Wellness Event Featuring Baseball Hall of Famers David “Big Papi” Ortiz and Mariano Rivera in the Bronx.
SOMOS Social Care Network will host Summer Mercado, a free community wellness event bringing together nationally recognized athletes, health advocates, and community leaders to promote healthier lifestyles on Tuesday, July 7th.
Co-sponsored by and hosted at Fordham University's Lombardi Center, the event will highlight SOMOS Social Care Network's new program for Bronx Medicaid members, connecting families to essential services such as food, housing, transportation, and other community-based resources.
Held in an engaging and accessible setting, the event will offer attendees of all ages the opportunity to participate in sports and wellness activities, including pro-pitch challenges, fitness workouts, healthy cooking demonstrations, and interactive stations where families can customize baseball caps and decorate softballs.
Families can also enjoy the Kids' Fun Zone, featuring special meet-and-greets with Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer and PAW Patrol characters. Local community-based organizations will be on-site providing food, educational resources, and other free giveaways.
