Foodtown of Mount Eden Marks Grand Opening on Jerome Avenue with Ribbon-Cutting Celebration

Bronx, NY (January 12, 2026) – Foodtown of Mount Eden celebrated the official grand opening of its new 9,000-square-foot store located at 1364 Jerome Avenue on Friday, January 9. Situated in the heart of the Mount Eden neighborhood, the store is designed to meet today’s expectations for a modern grocery shopping experience, offering customers a thoughtful, contemporary layout and robust fresh-food departments. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 11 a.m.

The store features competitive, value-driven pricing across its groceries and fresh-food departments, enabling local shoppers to stretch their food budgets without sacrificing quality.

The grand opening drew strong support and enthusiasm from Bronx elected officials and community leaders, many of whom grew up in the borough and have deep personal ties to the Mount Eden neighborhood. Their presence underscored the importance of continued investment in local communities and access to quality food options. Speakers highlighted the sense of pride, resilience, and mutual support that defines the Bronx, noting that projects like Foodtown of Mount Eden reflect both the community’s growth and its enduring spirit of togetherness.

“I had the privilege of growing up in this community, and that’s something I carry with me every day,” said Amanda Septimo, Assemblymember for the 84th Assembly District, representing the South Bronx. “I’ve been going to the same nail salon here since I was 14 years old, and that speaks to the character of this neighborhood. Owner Abee Aduzahreich has long envisioned placing a full-service grocery store on Jerome Avenue. He notes that this idea first took root roughly a decade ago. After securing the lease in February 2025, and commencing construction in March 2025, his vision has now come to life. The store is owned and operated by Abee and Moe Aduzahreich.
