5 Things: 9/11 Commemoration Events, Lawrence Cancer Center Update & More

1.   9/11 10-Year Anniversary Memorial Events Around Town

• The Town of Eastchester will hold a 9-11 Ceremony on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 8:30am on the grounds of Town Hall (weather permitting) in front of the 9/11 Memorial Clock. The ceremony will be moved inside Town Hall if the weather is uncooperative. All residents and Emergency Services personnel are invited to attend. Please remember the victims of 9-11 especially our neighbors lost from Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville.

• A Memorial Concert, sponsored by and The Tuckahoe-Eastchester Lions Club, will be held Sunday Sept. 11^th at 3 p.m. at the Women’s Club on 135 Midland Ave. Program will include local professional musicians and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the ongoing renovations of the historic building of the Bronxville Women’s Club. A reception donated by Trader Joe’s will follow the program. Net proceeds from the concert will benefit the Police and Fire Departments of Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe. • The Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe Houses of Worship are planning an event to remember those lost in 9/11 on Sunday at 3 p.m. The event will be free and be held at the on 180 Pondfield Road. Call 914-337-6776 for more information.

2.   35^th Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race is Sunday

The has been scheduled for Sunday, September 11, 2011. The Road Race includes a 1-mile race beginning at 9am and 5-mile race beginning at 9:30am.  Check-in and registration will take place at 7:30am at the Tuckahoe Community Center at 71 Columbus Avenue. Proceeds from the race will be donated to Tuckahoe Beautification, Tuckahoe Senior Center, Eastchester Community Action Program, and Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 3.   Special Meetings Scheduled in Bronxville & Eastchester

The Bronxville Planning Board has scheduled a Special Meeting for Tuesday, September 13^th at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall that will be dedicated to the Cancer Center project. In anticipation of the meeting, Lawrence Hospital has posted a “New Cancer Center Update” on its website, which includes a “Cancer Center FAQs” and plan photos of the proposed project.

In Eastchester, Supervisor Anthony Colavita has called two Special Meetings for the month of September, one on Monday the 12th "for the purpose of discussing proposals and modifications to the Senior Housing provisions of the Zoning Code" and another on Tuesday the 20th "for the purpose of discussing the status of pending personnel litigation and contract negotations with CSEA."
