5 Things: FBI Report, Open Houses & Art Shows

1.   Eastchester HS Open House is this Thursday

Eastchester High School will be holding an Open House this Thursday, beginning at 7 PM in the school's auditorium. During the visit, parents who do not already have a Home Access password will be able to get one from the Guidance Office. This allos parents to get updates on their child's attendance daily, progress reports halfway through each marking period and report cards at the end of each marking period. Information about the next PSAT, which is scheduled for October 15th will also be available at the Open House. All 10th and 11th grade parents are encouraged to sign up in the main hallway. There is a $25 registration fee.

2.   FBI Releases 2010 "Offenses Known to Law Enforcement Numbers"

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released its 2010 "Offenses Known to Law Enforcement Numbers," listing by state and city the number of crimes recorded by its offices, including murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime and buglary among others. According to the report:

Eastchester, with a population of 18,612, recorded only 8 "violent crimes" in 2010, including 5 robberies and 3 aggravated assaults. No murders or rapes were listed for Eastchester, although the report noted 203 property crimes and 174 larcenies/thefts.

Bronxville, with a population of 6,452, showed 4 violent crimes, including 2 robberies and 2 aggravated assaults. Again no murders or rapes were recorded in Bronxville, although the report noted 52 property crimes and 43 larcenies/thefts.

Finally, Tuckahoe, with a population of 6,196, showed 4 violent crimes, including 1 robbery and 3 aggravatted assults. No murders or rapes were reported in Tuckahoe, and only 8 property crimes and seven larcenies/thefts were recorded.

3.   Open House and Watercolor Exhibit at 

There will be an Open House and watercolor art exhibit by Martha Silver Thursday, September 22, from 10 am to 7 pm at the Bronxville Women’s Club on 135 Midland Avenue. Art sold will benefit the Shelter Pet Alliance for the Animals of the Yonkers Animal Shelter (that's our friends from Patch Paws!). Club members will be available to talk about membership. 4.  More Arts Shows Nearby

5.  Tuckahoe Farmer's Market Location Change

For this weekend and the next (Sunday Sept. 25 and Sunday Oct. 2), the Tuckahoe Farmer's Market will change location to Fisher Avenue by the Crestwood Railroad Station.
