5 Things: Free Jazz Concert, Sign-Up for Email Alerts & More

1.   Free Jazz Concert at Beczak Center

The Jill McCarron Quartet - a classic quartet led by pianist Jill McCarron and winner of the 13th annual Great American Jazz Piano Competition - will be performing at the riverfront park in front of the Beczak Environmental Education Center tonight, as part of the Celebrating Women in Jazz Concert Series. McCarron's musical wit, virtuosity and power has led to many comparisions to Art Tatum, who today is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. The concert, presented by Jazz Forum Arts, is free and will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30.

2.   Sign Up for the Town of Eastchester's Email Alerts

If you are a Eastchester resident, you might want to consider signing up for the Town's Email Alerts, which allow community members to stay informed about current news and emergency issues. Residents can sign up for the General Email Alert, the Police Email Alert and/or the Garth Road Resident Email Alert. 

3.   Tuckahoe Resident Meeting

There will be a Village Board "Resident Community Meeting" tonight at 7 p.m. at Westy's Storage Center on 65 Marbledale Road in Tuckahoe. Village Board members and local residents will discuss upcoming events and issues facing the community.

4.   Free SAT/ACT Practice Test

High-school students can take advantage of a free SAT/ACT Practice Test tomorrow Aug. 17 being offered at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, located at 1 Mead Way. The test is sponsored by the Kaplan Test Prep and is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Call the school at 914-337-0700 for more information or to confirm.

5.   Blog for Patch

Become a blogger for Bronxville-Eastchester Patch.
