5 Things: State Test Scores, 9/11 Commemorations

1.   State Test Scores Released

The New York State Department of Education just released state test results for the English Language Arts and Mathematics Assessments. The assessments measure performance in these subject areas for students in the third to eighth grade. Check out to see the complete results for the school district.

2.   9/11 Commemorations

The 10^th Anniversary of September 11^th is about a month away. Several organizations are already making plans to commemorate one of the most tragic days in our nation’s history. Westchester County announced this week that it will hold its annual ceremony at twilight at the Kensico Dam Plaza. The event will take place at 6 p.m. so that people can attend other commemoration events earlier in the day.

3.   Blog for Patch

4. Free Jazz Concert at Beczak Center

KLARO!, a contemporary cutting-edge jazz quartet co-led by two critically acclaimed international artists – Karolina Strassmayer, voted “Top Five Alto Saxophonist” in Downbeat Readers Poll, and Drori Mondlak, a New York City jazz drummer now living in Cologne – will perform Tuesday as part of the Beczak Environmental Education Center’s Celebrating Women in Jazz Concert Series. The concert will take place in the Center’s riverfront park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is free. 

5.   Israeli Art Exhibit

If you are craving a bit of art – and a cool place to hang out – this Tuesday, you can check out an exhibit in nearby New Rochelle, as the Beth El Synagogue is showcasing an exhibit by renowned Israeli artists, such as Ruth Levin and Shraga Weill.
