One of them, 18-year-old Frank Valencia, had recently been arrested on a weapons charge in the Bronx and released on probation, News12 reported. The Yonkers Police Benevolent Association is angry.
Valencia was shot during the gun battle and is in the hospital.
Allegedly with him on Monday was New Rochelle resident Jerry Reyes.
In court Wednesday, Reyes was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Bail for him was set at $100,000 cash or $250,000 bond, according to News12.
Officer Kayla Maher was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after being shot through the jaw.
The incident started when a neighbor called police Monday night about a suspicious car parked in an out-of-the way spot at Marshall Road and Ridge Drive.
