Bronxville and Eastchester Teams Compete in the Supervisor's Cup

On  June 10, members of the Bronxville Youth Lacrosse League and the Eastchester Blue Devils got to face off in the ever popular Supervisor’s Cup at Haindl Field. This year marked the fourth year that the boys leagues have played each other and the first time that the girls participated.

Hosted by Supervisor Anthony Colavita, the 8th grade boys’ teams kicked off the evening with the festivities beginning at about 6:30 p.m. After both teams were announced and the National Anthem was played, the game got under way. Both teams fought to the end, with the Bronxville Youth Lacrosse Association coming out on top.

After the game ended the boys and their families went into the field house and enjoyed a BBQ cooked by the supervisor himself. A raffle was held for many prizes, including mouth pieces, lacrosse balls, t-shirts, shafts and a fully strung stick partially donated by Southern Westchester Lacrosse in Tuckahoe. All participants also received a blue and white jersey to remember the evening.

The inaugural girls’ game kicked off under the lights at approximately 7:45 p.m. Sixth, 7th and 8th grade girls from both the Eastchester Blue Devils and the Bronxville Youth Lacrosse Association enjoyed playing in this special first ever game. After the game, which was also won by the Bronxville Youth Lacrosse Association, the girls and their families also enjoyed a BBQ and raffle as well. All girls went home with t-shirts saying: “No Helmets, No Pads, No Gloves, No Problem” on the back.

It didn’t matter who won or lost the games, this evening was a success for all. It was great to see different organizations from town come together and enjoy an evening under the lights with their friends and family at Haindl Field.
