Friends and community members,
I am here to share an incredible message with you, the message of hope for students with disabilities. I am a school psychologist who provides counseling services for youth with disabilities in a high poverty area. Born and raised on Long Island, I often struggle to imagine the tremendous disadvantages they face each day, as to many of us, they are unimaginable. My students, despite their disabilities, are RESILIENT, HARDWORKING, and DEDICATED, but likely due to a lack of consistency in their lives, they are in desperate need of continued motivation to succeed and face the odds against them. Please help to provide some motivation for my students and to help ensure that they can be motivated to become active and important contributors to our communities.
