Body Was Hidden Under Parked Truck Following Deadly Hit-And-Run By Driver Of Another Truck: Police

A Spring Valley man has now been arrested after police say he struck the victim with his pickup, then hatched a gruesome plan.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — An arrest has been made after the discovery of a body under a pickup truck in a Rockland County parking lot.

A Spring Valley man has now been arrested in connection to the bizarre circumstances that led to the grisly find.

On Saturday, at around 7:15 a.m., the Ramapo Police Department responded to a report of a body in a parking lot on Park Avenue, in the South Spring Valley section of the Town of Ramapo.

Officers found the body of a 30-year-old man in a parked pickup truck. Investigators soon determined that the parked vehicle was not involved in the circumstances that led to the victim's death.

The Ramapo Police Department Investigations Unit and Crash Investigation Unit conducted a joint investigation. Through review of surveillance footage, interviews, and evidence collection, investigators identified a vehicle that they believe was involved in the victim's death. Later that same day, officers spotted the vehicle in the Chestnut Ridge area of Ramapo.

Manuel Milton Yantalema Parco, 36, from Spring Valley, was arrested and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, felony concealment of a human corpse, and felony tampering with physical evidence.

Investigators say the death is believed to have occurred during the early morning hours Saturday, when the victim was struck by a vehicle and then dragged. The vehicle then entered the parking lot, where the victim was removed from beneath Yantalema Parco's vehicle and left under a parked pickup truck.

Yantalema Parco was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court, where bail was set. He was remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending a future court appearance.
