Borcich Officially Headed for Boston College

Bronxville football star recently signed a letter of intent.

It was merely a formality–Kieran Borcich had decided in April 2010 as a junior to accept an athletic scholarship to attend and play football at Boston College–but the Bronxville senior made the decision official on February 2 by signing a National Letter of Intent.

Borcich a 6-3, 265 pound two-way lineman who led the Bronxville football team to a nearly perfect 23-1 record over the past two seasons, including this past November's first New York State Class C championship for the school, was set to sign his letter in a ceremony at Bronxville High school when another winter storm closed the school. So, Borcich penned the paper and faxed it off to make his choice a done deal.

“I made my final college decision back in April as to where I would play, so that took away some of the day's potential excitement,” Borcich said. “However, it is somewhat a sigh of relief to have the official paperwork done, as the recruiting process is now over. Right now I'm just focusing on getting ready for the fall and I feel extremely blessed to have such an opportunity.”

Borcich’s talents are reflected in his speed, power and team leadership qualities. Despite a leg injury, the Broncos’ captain walked the sidelines for the first eight games of the regular season before being cleared to return to play in the Class C playoffs. The Broncos then rolled through Section 1, the regional playoffs and the state final–defeating General Brown of upstate New York 34-14 to win the title.

Borcich is the first Bronxville football player to earn a major college Division I scholarship.
