Dr. Nick DiRusso, DVM, a Lucky Star for Neighborhood English Bulldog
Neighborhood veterinarian offers family style state of the art service and local care in the heart of Eastchester and only minutes from Bronxville and Tuckahoe.
Buster, our 3-year-old English Bulldog is with us today only thanks to an incredible resource in our neighborhood: Dr. Nick DiRusso, who lives and operates his veterinary practice at 35 Tuckahoe Ave in Eastchester.
Perhaps you, like I, have walked or driven past his beautifully manicured colonial home with a subtle shingle out front advertising his practice many times. Recently, when presented with the shock of our ‘baby’, Buster, going into a life threatening seizure, we realized we had to get to a vet immediately, and with all our hearts we were thankful that Dr. DiRusso is just around the corner from us.
With a dog in a severe convulsive state, and two frantic pet owners before him, Dr. DiRusso with the help of his wife Donna remained calm and focused, and treated Buster in the most efficient and effective manner, all while managing to offer us incredible compassion at the same time. Within minutes Buster was stabilized and the relief we felt was immeasurable.

Our past experience with treating Buster have been with a veterinary practice in another town that offered very good care but was a larger medical clinic with different doctors seeing our pet each time. It was very refreshing to find Dr. DiRusso and know that he offers the same state of the art quality that a larger clinic does but with the warm atmosphere of a neighborhood place. Dr. DiRusso is assisted by his wife Donna; they have worked together for 12 years. Together they provide a unique atmosphere of ” family caring for family”. Dr. DiRusso is also assisted by Harold, who more than plays his part in adding to the warmth of the service provided.
Having a skilled and compassionate veterinarian in the middle of our quite neighborhood does more than give a Norman Rockwell element to our town. We are blessed with an amazing resource in the form of excellent medical care for pets of all kinds, essentially in very our own backyard. Perhaps it is Buster who provides the best testimony of the unique gift Dr.DiRusso’s practice offers: Recent visits to our prior vet were met with resistance on Buster's part in entering the clinic. Despite the trauma of the event that brought us to Dr. DiRusso in the first place, and follow up visits to get blood tests, Buster enthusiastically and willing swaggered back into Dr. DiRusso’s office for each visit.

Dr. DiRusso has been a veterinarian since 1975. In 1984 he took over the veterinary practice at 35 Tuckahoe Avenue, which had been operated by other veterinarians for over 30 years. His practice offers a full range of veterinarian services as well as boarding. The office is open every day except Wednesday and Sunday. You can read more about the practice at www.ahcpc.net or you can contact Dr. DiRusso at 914-961-4045.
In addition to his exceptional veterinary skills, Dr. DiRusso also has a passion for painting. Beautiful paintings of animals line the walls of the waiting room. Paintings are for sale or you can even commission a personal painting of your favorite pet! When Dr. DiRusso is not focusing on caring for or painting pets, he donates his time as a set designer for Hope for Change, a charity that works with high school and college students to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research through the promotion of theatrical productions. Not just a star for Buster, Dr. DiRusso’s light shines in many directions.
