The World Didn't End!
As this calendar turns, what layer of yourself can you leave behind... fear, anger, discontentment, lethargy?
Some people believed the world was supposed to end on the 21st (perhaps they were hoping to get out of the holidays with their in-laws). Well, the world did not end. Actually, the Maya believed in eras or stages, and while the 21st may have been the end of one era, the 12th, it was also the start of a new one, the 13th. So, it was not really an end, but a transition.
Transitions are not easy. Sometimes it might feel like the world is ending. We reflect on the past year, pass judgement and wonder if we've accomplished all we had hoped to. Already, we begin to fret about what waits ahead. However, as with many things in life, it's all about how you approach it. Transitions can be equally freeing. Just like a good savasana at the end of your practice, view this transition as a chance to reflect on and incorporate the past year, and a chance to reboot for the year ahead.
As this calendar turns, what layer of yourself can you leave behind... fear, anger, discontentment, lethargy? Imagine if you shed a layer and let go of some of that. What do you find underneath? Perhaps some space for growth and discovery in this New Year.
