Bronxville Blotter: Man Arrested After Attempted Break-in at Avalon Apartments

Nicholas Greco, 26, who lives in the apartment complex, faces multiple charges.

Nicholas Greco, of Bronxville, was arrested on Sunday, May 22, after police received a call about a possible break-in at the Avalon apartment complex at 125 Parkway Rd.

A taxi driver called police at 6:45 a.m. after he saw a man rip a window screen out of a ground floor apartment and then enter the apartment, said Bronxville police Sgt. Stephen Gallo.

Officers arrived at the building and arrested Greco, 26, who was found to be in possession of stolen credit cards and marijuana, Gallo said. Greco listed his address as 44 Milburn St., which is also part of the Avalon building.

Greco faces multiple charges, including criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, and criminal trespassing. He could face other charges.

Greco was arraigned Sunday, and unable to post the $15,000 bail, he was remanded to the Westchester County jail.

A woman called police to report that the driver’s side window of her vehicle had been smashed. The unlocked vehicle was parked in the Avalon parking lot. The woman reported that a pair of shoes and a gift bag containing a battery charger were taken. Police said other evidence was collected at the scene.

May 21, 7 a.m.
An employee of Value Drug Family Center at 80 Pondfield Rd. called police to report an attempted break-in. The employee said a man was trying to enter the store through a window on the roof. Police arrived but the suspect had fled. The case is under investigation.

May 20, 8:30 a.m.
Police received a call from a Hemlock Road resident that his vehicle was broken into overnight. The resident said a cell phone charger worth approximately $35 and some coins were taken from the vehicle, which was unlocked and unalarmed, said police.
