Bronxville Historical Conservancy Brendan Gill Lecture - David Eisenhower

Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. Reisinger Auditorium in the Performing Arts Center

David Eisenhower is an author and historian and has been a public policy fellow and professor at the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also co-chair of the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s History Institute for Teachers.

He is the only grandson of the 34th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the son-in-law of the 37th President, Richard Nixon. He is the eponym of the U.S. Presidential retreat, Camp David.

Eisenhower was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in history in 1987 for Eisenhower: At War, 1943-1945, a book about the Allied leadership during World War II. His latest work, Going Home to Glory, is a memoir of life with his grandfather during his post-presidential years.

As a gift to the community, The Conservancy annually sponsors The Brendan Gill Lecture, honoring the memory of one of Bronxville’s most renowned residents, the late Brendan Gill. Gill wrote for The New Yorker for more than 60 years and was a prominent advocate for the preservation of architecture and other visual arts. The Bronxville Historical Conservancy is pleased that David Eisenhower is their 17th speaker in this series during the 70th anniversary year of the end of the war in Europe.
