Bronxville Police Blotter: May 10 – 16

A look at some of the incidents investigated by the Bronxville Police Department

Here's a rundown of some of the incidents reported by the Bronxville Police Department for the week of May 10 – May 16, 2010.

May 11:

6:59 p.m. The manager of the CVS on Pondfield Rd. reported to police that a woman had passed fraudulent cashier's checks. The checks, which were both $100 denominations, were cashed two separate times—on May 10 at 2:20 p.m. and again at 2:31 p.m. Police have an active investigation going and hope to make an arrest soon, they said.

May 14:

10:36 p.m. Police noticed that a portable toilet had been knocked over from 24 Prescott Ave onto the Tennis Center property. They believe three Bronxville youths did it and detained them until their parents came to pick them up. Police first noticed the toilet, which sustained no damage, had been knocked down while they were in the vicinity of the Garden Ave. tennis huts.

May 16:

12:33 a.m. A 44-year-old Yonkers man was stopped on Kraft Ave. for driving with a suspended registration, after a license plate reader alerted police. Police also found that the man, Meliton Cruz, did not have a driver's license. The car was impounded and Cruz is set to appear in Village County on June 2.  

 

Update:

Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale sent over the following information:

May 17:

Joseph L. Sain, 38, was found guilty of burglary in the second degree, after a trial before Honorable Westchester County Court Judge James Hubert, according to Satriale.

On September 9, 2009, Bronxville Police charged Sain, of 434 South Fourth Ave. in Mouth Vernon, with burglarizing a home on White Plains Road, according to Satriale. 

"Sain, a career criminal with an extensive criminal record and numerous felony convictions, is scheduled for sentencing on July 8th and is facing a minimum sentence of sixteen years to life in prison," he wrote in an email.
