Bronxville Woman Dies After Falling From Building
The 79-year-old victim, Georgia Toumbakis, was a former teacher who belonged to several community organizations.
A Bronxville woman died Saturday after falling from her apartment window.
Georgia Toumbakis, 79, fell from her window on the fourth floor of a six-story building at 3 Stoneleigh Plaza. The window overlooks a wide one-story garage between the building where Toumbakis lived and another building in the same development.
An investigator at the Westchester Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the death and said Toumbakis had been identified, but the medical examiner hadn't performed an autopsy, and no official determination had been made on the circumstances surrounding the death.

Although other reports say Toumbakis jumped from the window, and investigators are not ruling out that possibility, neither police officials nor the medical examiner's office have made specific comments on the cause of death.
The apartment building was quiet Saturday evening, about eight hours after the noon incident. One couple returning from a walk said they'd heard about what happened, but said they didn't know Toumbakis personally. Three others who returned to 3 Stoneleigh Plaza and a neighboring building all said they weren't aware of the death and didn't know Toumbakis, who lived in apartment 49.
