Chef Angel Bojanovich Joins Anna Maria’s Cucina Italiana in Larchmont

For tonight's Wednesday Pasta Night, he'll be preparing two-course prix-fixe meals costing $19 per person.

Chef Angel Bojanovich has joined Anna Maria’s Cucina Italiana in Larchmont, NY.

He will be cooking tonight as Anna Maria's offers patrons its two-course Wednesday Pasta night menu which incudes chilled tomato soup topped with burrata as a starter.

At a prix-fixe cost of $19 per person, guests choose from four appetizers and six pasta dishes each week. Pastas and appetizers offered change weekly. “Zoodles” can be substituted for patrons preferring vegetables to pasta. Happy Hour is celebrated (just at the bar) on Tuesday through Friday until 7 p.m.

Bojanovich grew up in Cusco, generally considered the most popular tourism destination in Peru, where his mother operated a travel agency and his father owned a restaurant in nearby Sacred Valley called Alhambra.

He attended high school in Peru and played goalie on the soccer team; he went on to college—earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Univ Autonoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico. While in college, he cooked for a growing number of fellow students and during breaks from school, he worked in his father’s restaurant.

Encouraged by the popularity of his cooking with his college friends, Bojanovich considered pursuing a career in the food industry and enrolled at the Gato Dumas Culinary School in Rosario, Argentina (near Buenos Aires). Following graduation from culinary school, he operated a catering business for five years in Bolivia and also imported and exported fish.

After moving to America, he worked at Antipasti in White Plains under chef Rick Laakkonen, and was sous chef at La Tasca in Manhattan and Back 40 Kitchen in Greenwich, Conn. He was also a chef at Panka in Port Chester and Viru in Scarsdale. He resides in White Plains, NY.

Bojanovich reports to Executive Chef and co-owner Anna Maria Santarelli, a Mamaroneck resident. She joined the staff of Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the mayor of New York City as a cook, and eventually became executive chef and chief administrator in charge of the kitchen and event planning.

Over a 13-year period, she served three New York City mayors—David Dinkins, Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg. The restaurant is co-owned by Jennifer Esposito.

Anna Maria’s was opened in 2006 and renovated in late, 2014; its interior was completely redone and an 800-pound cement bar was built on the premises.
Anna Maria’s Cucina Italiana is closed on Mondays. It is open for dinner on Tuesday through Sunday and is located at 18 Chatsworth Avenue, Larchmont, NY, www.annamariaskitchen.com, 914-833-0555.
