Construction Close To Starting For Tuckahoe Hotel

Crews are in the process of removing the last of the contaminated soil from the former landfill site.

TUCKAHOE, NY — The start of construction on a hotel and restaurant built on top of a former landfill is getting closer. A spokesman for the project said crews will be removing the last of the contaminated soil this week from the site.

More than 200 truckloads of approximately 6,000 tons of contaminated soil were removed and sent to facilities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the Journal News said.

The plan is to build a 163-room Marriott hotel and separate restaurant on the site.
