County Court Now Handling Tuckahoe Mother Assault Case

Denise Castracucco, the woman charged with assaulting her 70-year-old mother on Feb. 8, agreed on Tuesday to have her case transferred to County Court.

County Court is now handling the case of a Tuckahoe woman charged in connection with the death of her 70-year-old mother.

Denise Castracucco appeared in Tuckahoe Village Court on Tuesday and signed paperwork that transferred her case to County Court.

Castracucco, 47,, Dorothy Carraturo, whom she lived with on Lake Avenue in Tuckahoe.

Carraturo died in the hospital a day after authorities found her lying on her kitchen floor with a broken hip, abrasions and contusions.

In April, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office ruled the incident a homicide. However, Castracucco is still charged with second- degree assault, and not murder, in connection with the incident.

Castracucco declined to comment about the case on Tuesday, but she and her attorney are scheduled to appear in court on August 30. At that time, the DA’s office could decide whether or not to upgrade the charges.
