Daily Sports Digest: Eastchester Volleyball Wins Narrowly

Eastchester volleyball had a tough time with Rye Neck but the Eagles were able to escape with a victory. Bronxville field hockey team also found their way into the win column against Irvington while the Bronco soccer team tied at Pelham. Both Eastchester and Tuckahoe found trouble on the pitch as both boy’s soccer teams fell on the road.

Yesterday’s Results:

Sport: Volleyball

Game: Rye Neck @ Eastchester

Score:  Eastchester Won 3-1

Highlights: Eastchester won a hard fought four set match as both teams were very even. Amy DePippo had 24 assists in the victory while Catherine Manning and Samantha Longlade led the team in kills. In the losing effort Julia Bilotta had eleven kills and Rachel Williams added 10.

Sport: Girl’s Soccer

Game: Bronxville @ Pelham

Score:  Teams Tied 0-0

Highlights: It took two overtimes and still no winner was crowned as both teams defenses proved to be too much in the 0-0 tie at Pelham. Elizabeth Humphrey had 14 saves for the Pelicans while Grace Devlin was equally as impressive in net for the Broncos with 12 saves.

Sport: Boy’s Soccer

Game: Tuckahoe @ Alexander Hamilton

Score:  Tuckahoe Lost 4-1

Highlights: For the second time this season the Tigers fell to Alexander Hamilton High School. Tuckahoe had to play from behind the whole game as Hamilton found the back of the net thrice in the first half. In the losing effort Matt Stupple had 12 saves for the Tigers while Fotune Lape had the team’s only goal.

Sport: Boy’s Soccer

Game: Eastchester @ Westlake

Score:  Eastchester Lost 1-0

Highlights: The game was scoreless throughout regulation, but in overtime Westlake’s Rob Pizzolla scored off of a Leandro Curran assist giving their team the hard fought victory. In the loss Eastchester’s Frederic Delran had 8 saves.

Sport: Field Hockey

Game: Irvington @ Bronxville

Score:  Bronxville Won 6-0

Highlights: Gretchen Richter and Ally Pass led the broncos to victory as they each found the back of the net twice in Monday night’s home win. Brooke Bonfiglio and Claire Sargent both scored once for Bronxville.

Today’s Schedule:

• In boy’s soccer, Bronxville will host Edgemont at 4:30 p.m. The last time these two teams took the field the Broncos were victorious 2-1.  
• In field hockey, Bronxville will head to Glover Field to take on Pelham High School at 4:30 p.m. The Broncos won the previous matchup 6-0.
• In girl’s soccer, Bronxville will hit the road to face off against Saunders High School at 4:30 p.m.
• In girl’s swimming, The Bronxville Broncos and Scarsdale Raiders will meet up at Sarah Lawrence College for a 4:30 p.m. swim meet.
• In girl’s soccer, Scarsdale will head to Eastchester for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.
• In girl’s swimming, Eastchester and Ursuline will meet up at the College of New Rochelle for a 4:30 p.m. meet.
• In boy’s soccer, Tuckahoe will head to Solomon Schecter at 4:30 p.m. These two teams played to a 1-1 tie in mid September.
• In girl’s soccer, Mount Vernon will be at Tuckahoe for a 4:15 p.m. game
• In volleyball, Riverside High School will head to Tuckahoe for a 4:15 p.m. game in the school’s gymnasium.
