Eastchester To End Administering Section 8 Vouchers

The fate of the program is now uncertain in the town.

EASTCHESTER, NY — The Town of Eastchester is withdrawing from the Section 8 voucher program. The town made the decision because it costs more to administer the program than it receives in reimbursement from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The fate of the rental subsidy program is now uncertain and causing distress among those who depend on it, the Journal News said.

Section 8 vouchers assist low-income families and individuals by helping them to afford housing in the private market.
