Eastchester Police Blotter August 30 – September 6: iPod, GPS unit and More Taken from Unlocked Cars; Drug Arrest

A look at some of the incidents investigated by the Eastchester Police Department.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Eastchester Police Department for the week of August 30 – September 6, 2010.

August 31:

12:46 p.m. Police stopped a driver for going through a red light. A check of his license revealed that it was suspended. He was arrested for aggravated unlicensed, 3rd degree. The driver is due in court on September 8.

September 1:

3:54 p.m. An employee from Gymboree on White Plains Road reported to police that someone had taken $204 worth of merchandise from the store. They said the person left the store but walked in the direction of Lord & Taylor. Upon investigation, police found the person, a White Plains resident, who was arrested and charged with petit larceny. The White Plains resident is due in court on September 8.

6:23 p.m. The resident of an apartment on Garth Road reported to police that when she unlocked the top deadbolt of her front door, it opened. The resident said that she knew she had locked the bottom lock as well, and felt that someone had entered the home. She found her wallet on the table and in the living room, there was a kitchen knife on top of boxes. Assorted jewelry was missing from the apartment, whose value is not yet known.

September 2:

7:58 a.m. A digital camera, $25 cash and an iPod touch were taken from an unlocked 2008 Honda Pilot on Woodruff Avenue.

5:48 p.m. Lord & Taylor prevention officers told police that a woman put various clothing and jewelry items valued at $2,032 in her child's diaper bag and in a Lord & Taylor bag before attempting to leave the store. She was stopped by security. Police arrested and charged the woman, a Yonkers resident, with grand larceny in the 4th degree. She was released on $750 cash bail. She is due in court on September 8.

September 3:

9:16 a.m. Sunglasses, a radar detector, GPS, iPod and golf clubs were taken from an unlocked 2004 GMC Yukon parked in a driveway on Beech Street.

2:07 p.m. A bike valued at $400 was taken from the bike room on the lobby level of an apartment building on Garth Road.

6:30 p.m. After police pulled over a car for not signaling while changing lanes, they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car. Upon investigation, police found a bag of marijuana and a blue plastic straw with cocaine residue in the passenger's wallet. The driver, a 20-year-old Eastchester resident, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and was released on his own recognizance. The passenger, a 20-year-old Yonkers resident was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana as well as criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th. He was released on $100 cash bail. They are both due in court on September 8.

September 4:

5:08 p.m. A driver was stopped for going over the double yellow line to pass a car on California Road. It was found that he had a suspended license. The driver was charged with for aggravated unlicensed, 3rd degree and was released on $100 bail.

9:55 p.m. Police arrested two people who they say were fighting at the Gulf Station on White Plains Road. The two men—a 22-year-old from Tuckahoe and a 28-year-old from Eastchester were both charged with disorderly conduct. They were each released on $100 bail.

September 6:

2:25 p.m. The owner of Sal's Mart on White Plains Road reported to police that someone had taken lottery tickets from behind the counter. There were 97 tickets valued at $2 each missing from the store.

6:53 p.m. The owner of a 2006 Kia Sedona reported to police that while he was in Border's for about 30 minutes and when he came out, he said someone had keyed his car.
