Eastchester Police Blotter July 26 – August 1: Merchandise Swiped from Stores

A look at some of the incidents investigated by the Eastchester Police Department.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Eastchester Police Department for the week of July 26– August 1, 2010.

 

July 28:

1:17 p.m. The owner of a 1995 Volvo parked his car on Burnham Road at about 6:30 a.m. and when he returned later that day, he found that the driver's side front quarter panel of the car had been dented and the molding had fallen off.

2:27 p.m. The owner of a 2009 Audi parked his car at Lake Isle around 7:30 a.m. and when he returned later that day, he found that the passenger side rear bumper and the door were scratched.

8:06 p.m. The manager of the Stop & Shop on White Plains Road called police to report that a group of teens had taken beer from the store. A customer had told the manager that she had seen two kids between 12 and 15 years old put beer under their shirts and leave the store. The manager thought she saw the teens with a group of six others in the parking lot, but they ran across the street. Officers checked the area and couldn't locate the group. The amount of merchandise taken was unknown.

July 29:

5:22 p.m. An employee of Lord & Taylor on White Plains Road called police to report that someone had taken merchandise from the store. According to the employee, the woman went into the fitting room and took the security sensors off a number of items. A total of $793.50 worth of clothing taken from the store. The woman, a 26-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested and charged with petit larceny. She was also found with two pairs of scissors and was charged with possession of burglar tools. The woman was later released on $200 cash bail and was due in court on August 4.

6:43 p.m. An employee of Old Navy on White Plains Road called police to report that a woman had taken merchandise from the store—a total of $253.60 worth of clothing. The 34-year-old Yonkers resident was arrested and charged with petit larceny, as well as with possession of burglar tools, after she was found to have scissors and wire cutters.

July 30:

6:59 p.m. A woman called police to report that a car parked next to hers on Grey Rock Road had been damaged. The woman said that she had parked her car at about 6 p.m. and when she returned a short time later, the window of the Honda Accord next to hers, had been broken and it looked as if the airbag had been removed. Police attempted to contact the owner of the car, but have not heard from him yet.

8:49 p.m. A caller reported to police that two of his cars had been stolen from the Garth Road garage where they were parked. The caller said that at about 9:30 p.m. on July 29, he had parked his 1998 Plymouth Voyager, which blocked his 1996 BMW, which was also parked there. When he went back at 9:30 a.m. on July 30, both cars were missing. He checked the area but couldn't locate them. When officers responded, they spoke with the super of the building, to make sure the cars not been towed, which they weren't. Stolen vehicle reports were filled out. 

8:52 p.m. An officer saw a teen leave Sal's Mart on White Plains Road with a bag containing cans. The officer later stopped the car for going through a stop sign on Harney Road. Inside the car were three males and a female, all between 17 and 18 years old. In the car, the officer saw a bag with beer cans in plain view. The three males were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 and intent to consume and the female was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, 3rd degree. She was due in court on August 4.

August 1:

8:09 p.m. An employee of Stop and Shop on White Plains Road called police to report that a man had left the store with a cart of unpaid groceries. A total of $320.12 worth of beer and groceries was taken from the store. Police investigated and found the man, a 43-year-old Nanuet resident, who was arrested and charged with petit larceny. He could not make bail, which had been set at $1,500, and he was transported to Westchester County Jail. He was due in court on August 4.
