Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita Wins Re-Election

Even though he was the incumbent, Republican Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita knocked on more than 3,500 doors in his district during his re-election campaign this year. And the hard work paid off Tuesday when he cruised to victory over his Democratic opponent Michael Denning.

With 31 out of 39 districts reporting, Colavita garnered 3,701 votes, or 62 percent, compared to Denning’s 2,286 or 38 percent, according to Westchester County election officials.

“This is very gratifying,” Colavita told a crowd of jubilant supporters Tuesday night at TuttaBella Restaurant. “It justifies all the hard work we’ve been doing for the town.”

He said his goals for the new term include continuing to cut costs and reduce town spending and make improvements to Lake Isle Country Club.

Colavita also said that he plans to consolidate two town departments in the coming year, though he declined to name which ones until plans are finalized.

“We have a future retirement coming,” said Colavita, which will allow the town to combine the jobs of two department heads into one and merge those two departments.

“I have a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the citizens showing confidence in me, and I pledge to continue to work as hard as I can to protect the town and keep it affordable,” he said.
